Life Learning at its best

We kicked off our  2021-2022 homeschool year with a hearty embrace of Arthur Ashe's much-quoted encouragement, "Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can."  We looked around us and saw RESOURCES galore!  Then, someone blurted out, "What if we turned the barn apartment into a ranch stay!"  And that's where this chapter of our homeschool story begins.   Welcome to The Outsiders Inn!  

 We are a family that focuses on every moment being a learning opportunity.  As our name implies we live outside the traditional confines of schooling and have found that our best learning occurs while immersed in the complex systems of daily life.  When we recently dared to wonder, "What could be a more multi-faceted project than learning how to run a ranch?"    

The Outsiders Inn provided us with our answer(s). 

 It is our sincere hope that it might do the same for you.  

We are hands-on learners of hospitality - a term derived from "hospice" meaning a place of rest for travelers and pilgrims - who are offering an inn in a historical sense of the term; a place in the countryside that provides lodging for travelers, stabling for horses, and acts as a community gathering place.  Like inn-keepers of yore, we are eager to find travelers that are the right fit for our establishment - one that values positive learning experiences more than an impersonal exchange of money.  We think that what the world needs now is safe places for people of all ages to practice the craft of collaborative learning.  After years of trailblazing this terrain as a homeschool team, we've chosen an auspicious place to hang our welcome sign; at the well-worn intersection where self-motivated interest meets the need for collaboration.  If you are curious, adventurous, interested in learning and being the change rather than staying the same, if you are an Outsider at heart boldly going in the direction of empathy, connection, and earnest inquiry, if you have positive energy and impassioned ideas and stories to share - then we've got a hitching post, bed, and breakfast waiting for you.  Visit our HOW to stay page to learn more!
