After months of braving nighttime freezes, Lupines and Columbines showcase their perseverance through the colorful pageantry of blossoms. The river runs high and ducks and geese are now joined by raptors circling above. Days are pleasantly warm while nights are yet to catch up. Pearl is put to pasture for the season as her coat has thinned down to its warm tawny summer tone. Frogs chorus in the pond and the aspens, now bejeweled in their leaves, begin to shimmy with delight. Some time, mid-month, the Ponderosa's agree to release their pollen all at once. High above gusts of warm air throw sheets of yellow powder. What cascades down becomes the yellow carpet rolled out just in time for Summer's arrival.
