About Us - Rebels with a cause
Global Warming - It ain’t cool.
Systems thinking, social-emotional learning and eco-literacy are at the core of The Outsiders Ranch. Once a homeschool, the ranch is now a launch pad for the life-learners that we’ve become - a place to share what we’ve learned along our way. Our aim: to become one of an ever growing number of life-learning hubs in a renewed system of education.
Cycling with the seasons, we offer themes, prompts, and projects that encourage one to wonder (and wander when needed) in nature . Every day, outdoor, place-based learning happens naturally here with the earth as our lead teacher. The Outsiders Ranch is a place for anyone leaving behind worn out systems to join a pack that has made a different pact about "being cool" - one that prioritizes how we attend to ourselves, each another, and the one precious planet upon which we all depend. At the Outsiders Ranch neurodiversity and biodiversity are valued as precious gifts to be protected and nurtured.

The Outsiders' Inn is a ”life-learner led” bed and breakfast. And so far it’s proving to be our best all-encompassing learning project yet! Our first season up and running we earned Air BnB superhost status! After our second season of meeting fantastic guests we realized that this endeavor is a treasure trove of stories just waiting to be told. 2024 we are launching our own StoryCorp project to capture just that - so you can come stay with us and share your own Inn Visible Abilities!

Just in time for the holidays we have Mullein Tapers and Ponderosa Pinecones by the bag or already crafted into garlands and wreaths. The Outsiders Inn is open for business this winter season (for guests with an adventurous spirit) and our Inn Convenience Store is loaded up with Wild Crafted Holiday gifts! Don’t have four wheel drive? No, problem, you can shop our wildcrafted goods on-line.

We are using the compassionate leadership curriculum from Roots and Shoots to self-organize ourselves into a craftivist collective focused on attending to the climate crisis. We are eager for all ages of life learners to join us!

It’s time! I’m repurposing my life and the working title for the project is ”A Tending Tent”. As I patchwork pieces together I’m going to be workshopping the material - gift economy style. I’m eager to share the craft(s) I’m honing with those willing to embrace my “work in progress” stage. Offerings and opportunities will be posted on the blog and event calendar as “A Tending Tent”

Tuesdays, from 4-6 pm join us for Tinker Belles - our girls-only maker space. Sometimes sporting tulle and always equipped with the right tools this group of girls is all about making dreams and visions come true! First time tinkerer? Join us! All you need to do is Make Believe in yourself! *This is a truly self-directed space with a Maker Mom on hand as support but only upon request. Our goal: Stay out of the way and let creativity flow!
